End Of The Year Reflections / Planning

I love this time of year. Not because my office typically looks like this:

Very organized boxes of stuff that I needed to process, each and every semester, before grades were due. Thankfully, I left all this madness behind when I moved to a new job back in July.

No, I like the end of the calendar year because I can set plans and goals.

Don’t lie. You’ve all got something similar to this on your schedule.

While also reflecting on years past:

I was on my way to church for Christmas Eve and decided to post this little gem inquiring the parentage of my dear followers. Plus my hair still had color, which is the real reason I decided to post this.

I can reflect on how I embraced the start of previous years:

I did go on that vacation. It was a backpacking trip on the AT in GA. It was a very wet and windy and cold day, as I was climbing Blood Mountain, that I decided to finally turn on my phone – I wanted a warm room for the night, so I needed to make some calls. And that is when I learned the entire world was locking down. I did get my warm room for the night – And I took the extra rolls of TP.

I can use what I’ve learned in the year to set adequate goals for the upcoming year:

I can see my golf clubs from where I currently sit. They’ve not moved all year. But I did successfully manage to eat more pizza and pet more dawgs.

And I can take stock in my accomplishments:

The truth will set you free, from Lent.

All snark aside, I am marginally optimistic about 2022. I will be going to California for Christmas, and I am excited about that because I have actually never been to the west coast. I went to Montana back in August and had a great time – The host on that trip is talking about having a larger group of us go out this coming year. I do need to plan some trips, though. But I think it’s best to focus on domestic travel for at least another year – I’ve really not seen too much of the US, so it will be good to check out more of our great land. I also have a nephew getting married in the Fall, so that will be a fun family thing to attend.

What are your plans for 2022? Anything fun coming up?
